Elect Michael Garb
for Sequoia Healthcare District Board, Zone A
November 8, 2022
Integrity. Equity. Experience. Transparency.
Elect MICHAEL GARB, appointed to the Sequoia Healthcare District Board of
Directors to fill a vacancy, representing Zone A on 11/8/2022.
The last 44 years that I have lived here, I have been committed to serving my
community. I served on the Sequoia Healthcare District Grants Committee for the last 7
years. I was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to 2 terms on the First 5
Commission, have served on the boards of Thrive, the Alliance of Nonprofits for San
Mateo County and presently serve on the board of Healthy Cities Tutoring as treasurer.
Our family, my wife Judy and our two children, Mindy Shelton, and Dave Garb, moved
to Redwood City (Redwood Shores) in 1978. I volunteered to serve on several
Belmont-Redwood Shores School District committees and was encouraged to run for a
seat on the school board and in 1983 was elected for the first of my 2 terms, serving as
president of the board on two occasions.
Following my 8 years on the school board, I joined the board of StarVista and served for
16 years before being becoming CEO. StarVista is a large nonprofit organization that
serves San Mateo County, providing mental health services, operating the Suicide
Prevention Hotline, housing for homeless youth, counseling services and many other services.
Having served on the Sequoia Healthcare District Grants Committee, the First 5
Commission, school board and StarVista, I understand the needs of our community and
have addressed them in my many roles. I am committed to improving the lives of the
residents of the district and would ask for your vote.
